Lets Try This Again

I was lucky enough to gain my first professional contract while in the middle of module two, with a travelling tour performing in pantomimes in education didn't leave me with much time to focus on my studies. Now finished the tour and back home I am ready to jump back into it.

I had previously spent time 'Finding my focus' and really looking into the field of dance education and how that can affect development in children and young adults, however felt lost in terms of what I actually needed to produce for this module. I have spent the last two weeks really looking at the handbook and trying to wrap my head around the new terminology for this module.

After my first 1-2-1 with Sam, I was able to set myself goals and guidelines for my research to help produce the inquiry proposal.

I need to think about Research Aims and  Research Outcomes.

Research Aims; statement of intent, what do you want to find out.
- Can having access to dance and performing arts have a positive impact on more academic studies
- Do parents see development from the direct impact of dance class
- Can schools do more to get dance and perfroming arts into the national curicumum

Research Outcomes; What do you want to gain/ achieve from the inquiry.
- Become a better teacher
- Understand my students needs more
- As a dance teacher can I provide more  for younger students
- Have a better understanding of meuarung development

I am this week to look into literature on methods and different types of data collection to see what is best to use and why. I think that my main types of methodology will be interviews and surveys so that I can collect different types of data from differrent people such as other teachers and parents of the children I teach.

  1. Hi Sophie,

This is an area very similar to what I am researching and would love to know how you get on with your search into literature! Hope that this module goes well for you!
